Well, I <em>quite<\/em> like <em>some<\/em> strange films. The guy above, with his black outfit, goggles, and vintage bicycle. Visually I\u2019d say this is stunning. In places an outright pictorial masterpiece. And sonically it\u2019s <em>very<\/em> interesting as well. It\u2019s not quite pantomime, but it\u2019s on that axis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7496-1-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11920\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7496-1-1024x576.png 1024w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7496-1-300x169.png 300w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7496-1-768x432.png 768w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7496-1.png 1334w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A naked but <em>moustachioed<\/em> lady.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>What it\u2019s all about, I have as yet no real idea. As well as the Auschwitz\/Holocaust reference, earlier in the film, there\u2019s a segment nearer the tail end of the movie, that suddenly and inexplicably changes from Spanish, which one might expect in a Mexican movie, to German.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7499-1-1024x576.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11921\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7499-1-1024x576.png 1024w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7499-1-300x169.png 300w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7499-1-768x432.png 768w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_7499-1.png 1334w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The End.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Some weirdo art-house stuff is, frankly, unwatchable. This, however, I found both compelling and fascinating, if also rather discombobulating. It\u2019s certainly odd. And in large parts it\u2019s also mesmerically beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s also a refreshing reminder of how film can stray a long way from the pulpy mainstream stuff we\u2019re continually bombarded with. It was a Japanese experimental film, long before that, way back in \u201871.
