I wonder if I\u2019ll get to experience his music live? I recently saw Marcos Valle, in London, on his \u201880th Birthday\u2019 World Tour! So you never know\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I type this, I\u2019m listening to tracks from <em>No Voo do Urubu<\/em>, a 2016 release from Verocai. The first thing that struck me was how great an arranger he is. So far so good. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"680\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_8010-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12322\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_8010-1.jpg 750w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_8010-1-300x272.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 706px) 89vw, (max-width: 767px) 82vw, 740px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>No Voo do Urubu<\/em>, 2016.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The second thing was that it sounds as if the drums on this recording might be programmed. Less good! But the material? The music? It\u2019s really very good. Excellent in fact. It\u2019s not too surprising that he\u2019s evolved somewhat, in the intervening 45 years. But there\u2019s a spirit or character that remains consistent, and very groovy\/appealing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_8012.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-12325\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_8012.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_8012-300x300.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_8012-150x150.jpg 150w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_8012-768x768.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/img_8012-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Best check this out, when circumstances permit.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I was expecting to be disappointed, to be honest. And &#8211; aside from the robot drums &#8211; I\u2019m not. Rather the opposite. I\u2019ll have to check out <em>Encore<\/em> as well.
