One of the best concerts I\u2019ve ever seen on video is Tom Waits at Austin City Limits. And that\u2019s available online in very good definition. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sadly this video isn\u2019t great, in terms of graphics. The definition is rather poor! But the music? That\u2019s a whole \u2018nother Turkey shoot. Such beautiful music deserves better. I wonder what he\u2019d have made of these three white boys playing \u2018Under The Boardwalk\u2019?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, I heard David Ball saying, in an interview (Patrick Scott Armstrong, Lone Star Plate?) that when he\u2019d mentioned liking \u2018Hot Fun In The Summertime\u2019, by Sly &amp; The Family Stone, Walter and Champ learned it, and the group played it live several times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They play plenty of blues (not so much on this gig tho\u2019), and plenty of what was once called \u2018race music\u2019, in the US of A.
