This film ain\u2019t great. Indeed, it\u2019s borderline awful. But there\u2019s just enough about it that\u2019s good enough to have kept me watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The two main characters, Pahoo (Dennis Fimple) and Rives (John Carson) &#8211; supposedly Chicago University students, searching for \u2018Sasquatch\u2019 &#8211; are up to the job. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"512\" height=\"221\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/img_7922-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-22008\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/img_7922-1.jpg 512w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/img_7922-1-300x129.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Elam, as Canton.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>And then there\u2019s Jack Elam, as crazy ol\u2019 Joe Canton, a boozy hillbilly trapper, and the lone survivor of an attack that sets up the film, and Bill Thurman, as ornery Sheriff Billy Carter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mostly the film is just silly mid-\u201870s fun. But it does get better, and even a bit scary, at points. I wouldn\u2019t necessarily recommend <em>Creature from Black Lake<\/em>. But I did, I must confess, enjoy it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One intriguing thing about it is that it ends in such a way as to suggest the film-makers might\u2019ve been angling for a sequel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ok, let\u2019s not mince words.
