I\u2019ve posted about the book itself elsewhere. But it finishes with the end of the ECW, and the advent of the Rump Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve been getting interested in the ECW, or rather Wars, for some time, of late. Partly from a potential wargaming perspective. But more so from an interest in the politics of the era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As Rodger points out, much of the politics of those years aligned with differing varieties of Christian \u2018faith\u2019. Broadly speaking the \u2018Arminian\u2019 High Anglicanism of the King was (and still is!) barely distinguishable from Catholicism, whereas Protestantism was (and still is), an, <em>ahem<\/em>\u2026 very broad and fractious church, wherein we find many troublesome and uppity agitators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"525\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/img_9594-1.jpg\" class=\"wp-image-23451\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/img_9594-1.jpg 750w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/img_9594-1-300x210.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 706px) 89vw, (max-width: 767px) 82vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve been intending to watch the Mollo\/Brownlow film <em>Winstanley<\/em> for absolutely ages. I really ought to do so, ASAP. My only issue is that I\u2019ll prob\u2019 have to pay to watch it.
