But for reasons I now forget, I\u2019ve never succeeded. Until today. I had to register anew. Bit of a pain. But once done, I created my first contribution to Wikipedia. Of which I\u2019m very proud, and pleased as Punch!*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What exactly is it? I hear nobody ask me\u2026 well, it\u2019s the addition of the 2022 book, listed below, in the bibliography section of Wikipedia\u2019s entry on <a href=\"https:\/\/en.m.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Marcus_Beresford,_7th_Baron_Decies#Bibliography\">Marcus Hugh Tristram de la Poer Beresford<\/a>, 7th Baron Decies, an Anglo-Irish hereditary peer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"732\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0079-1-732x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24055\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0079-1-732x1024.jpg 732w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0079-1-214x300.jpg 214w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0079-1.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 732px) 100vw, 732px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Why? Because I\u2019ve just read &#8211; and will shortly be reviewing &#8211; de la Poer Beresford\u2019s <em>very<\/em> good book, <em>Peninsular and Waterloo General: Sir Denis Pack and the War Against Napoleon<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"670\" height=\"1000\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0081-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24057\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0081-1.jpg 670w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0081-1-201x300.jpg 201w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 670px) 100vw, 670px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A terrific book.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With the author sharing the Beresford surname with one of Pack\u2019s fellow Napoleonic-era generals, I decided I\u2019d check if they were related. They are. And it turns out Marcus\u2019 previous Napoleonic history book was all about his illustrious ancestor:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"735\" height=\"1000\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0082-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-24058\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0082-1.jpg 735w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/img_0082-1-221x300.jpg 221w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 735px) 100vw, 735px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Something else I\u2019d like to read.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It also transpired that the bibliography on the Wiki page wasn\u2019t up to date. Berefords\u2019s Denis Pack book wasn\u2019t listed. Until now. Why so? Well, it turns out our Punch, of Punch n\u2019 Judy fame, is a bastardised descendent of the Commedia character Polichinello (also sometimes spelled Polichinelle). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway, I hope that now I can start contributing more to Wikipedia.
