Cost a bomb (\u00a31K!) to get the clutch replaced. But it could\u2019ve been worse, and cost more. Luckily we\u2019d just had a refund from E-On, of almost exactly the amount The Garage billed us. So long, in fact, they\u2019ve changed how they display one\u2019s Standing, since I took the above screenshot. I wish I\u2019d taken a screenshot whilst I was still riding high in the <em>new look<\/em> Standing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But here\u2019s how things, er\u2026 stand, right now. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"349\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/img_1550-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25098\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/img_1550-1.jpg 750w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/img_1550-1-300x140.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 706px) 89vw, (max-width: 767px) 82vw, 740px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">New look, and terrible Fall from Grace!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve had numerous occasions when they\u2019ve chastised me and lowered my Standings. Usually only temporarily. Because I usually haven\u2019t <em>actually<\/em> been at fault. This has been vindicated via my appealing, and getting replies like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"366\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/img_1560-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25110\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/img_1560-1.jpg 750w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/11\/img_1560-1-300x146.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 706px) 89vw, (max-width: 767px) 82vw, 740px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But, so far, my appeals on this occasion &#8211; I\u2019ve been told I\u2019ve not been recording deliveries accurately (not actually true*) &#8211; have not succeeded. This makes a job which is, by its very nature (no employment is guaranteed, and there are no employee rights\/benefits, like sick pay, etc.) already very tenuous, even more scary. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Especially when, despite me working hard and conscientiously, I can be mistakenly deemed at fault, through no fault of my own. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Having had just over a week off work, with no income &#8211; due to the clutch failing &#8211; is bad enough. But having to work under the shadow of the axe, now I\u2019m back to work, ain\u2019t pleasant. Esp\u2019 as I need to do as much work as poss\u2019, to make up for lost earnings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway, I can only do my best. Keep scrupulous records, and hope my standing returns to its former high level. I got a pack of six wireless, rechargeable, motion-sensitive lights, mostly to illuminate our bathroom, where the lighting has failed (and we\u2019ve failed to get an electrician able to easily\/cost effectively fix things!).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve out four up in the bathroom, and two on the upstairs landing. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Got Flo\u2019, aka The Car, back Thursday.
