Evidently so did Grover, and the folk at CTI, as it became the title track of the saxophonist\u2019s 197? album. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As well as being all over tons of amazing music &#8211; the track that first made me pay attention to him, way back in my early teens, was George Benson\u2019s version of \u2018The World Is A Ghetto\u2019 &#8211; Ralph MacDonald wrote some stone cold classics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"612\" height=\"444\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2009.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25395\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2009.jpg 612w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2009-300x218.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 612px) 100vw, 612px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Ralph, hanging out with Grover.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He also wrote \u2018Where Is The Love?\u2019, a hit for Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway, &amp; \u2018Just The Two Of Us\u2019, famously performed by Bill Withers, with Grover Washington. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s a good longer piece about Ralph online, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/amp\/s\/musicaficionado.blog\/2018\/07\/31\/the-artistry-of-ralph-macdonald\/amp\/\">here<\/a>. But the video above is good, nevertheless, showing a particular groove MacDonald often used.
