And did I awaken cause of the dreams disturbing me, which they kind of were. Because I needed the loo? (I did!) Or was it simply because the YouTube rain video I was using to help me sleep suddenly kicked into an heinous ad\u2019? (It did!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All of the above, I suppose. And the clock read 4:44! And I\u2019ve been drinking a bottle or two, mostly that brand, most nights, for a while now. Days are becoming weeks. I know this bugs Teresa. And I\u2019m concerned about it, as well <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I also bought a small bottle of Napoleon brandy, yesterday. But I didn\u2019t drink any. That\u2019s gone straight into Teresa\u2019s custardy! To protect me from mice-elf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It seems to me my body chemistry is so volatile, my will so weak and prone to impulsive behaviour and addiction, and my mind\/spirit correspondingly vulnerable, that I\u2019m left caught between my usual lax m.o., and an awareness that some form of Monk-like moral dispensation seems called for. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But\u2026 I\u2019m just not that way inclined. As I\u2019ve put into song, I\u2019m a Tumbleweed Soul!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"525\" height=\"296\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/P6FoiiGTujw?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This post is, as the title suggests, something of a middle o\u2019 the night\/early morn\u2019 grab-bag or miscellany. I want to record some thoughts and memories that just feel like they need saying, or \u2018fixing\u2019\u2026 if y\u2019all know what I mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First off, I\u2019m having a wee two day break from delivery work. Because we\u2019re going down to London, to visit Teresa\u2019s mum and sister. We\u2019re staying at a nearby AirB&amp;B. I must let our host know our arrival time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This trip necessitates the payment of two days of ULEZ charges. I have other car related stuff hanging over me: the recent bump, with Aby\u2019s Audi; a parking fine, from Ely Waitrose car park; and Flo\u2019 needs a service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"750\" height=\"685\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2086-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25454\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2086-1.jpg 750w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2086-1-300x274.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 706px) 89vw, (max-width: 767px) 82vw, 740px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Paid.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>More happily, I\u2019ve made a charming friend, or two(?), at the Amazon Peterborough depot. Nat. She\u2019s just a really lovely lady. And we appear to have become friends. Which, in this hard, lonely world, is a very nice and welcome thing. Another lady there, Maz (actually Marina!), is also very nice. And I get on well with a few of the guys, as well: Ivan and Keith spring to mind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I posted a number of Xmas cards yesterday, during a brief visit to the Hostmoor Tesco. Had a very pleasantly friendly interaction with the Customer Service staff there, whilst doing that. These small niceties are, whilst humble and mundane, very important, I think. Such moments make life bearable\/better. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I still need to do a stock-take, or inventory, of this years Xmas gifting. I\u2019ve already done so re Xmas cards. I disappointed myself by buying stuff to make Yule cards, and then failing to do so. In the end we just bought a couple of batches of cheap off-the-shelf Xmas cards. It\u2019s supposed to come \u2018twixt 8-12 am, this morning. Teresa wants us to leave around 10.30. I wish I\u2019d\u2019ve thought of something earlier; I\u2019d like to have gifted the <em>Dowland, Complete Lute Music<\/em> recordings, by Nigel North, to several family folk.
