And we\u2019ve been waiting a long, long, long time, for a new instalment. Almost 20 years, in fact. But it\u2019s a problem Aardman &amp; co. overcame, via Ben Whitehead, who does a pretty decent Sallis style vocal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peter Kay reprises (and enlarges upon) his Were-Rabbit role, as the flat-footed copper, McKintosh, and Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan) is TV reporter Onya Doorstep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2249-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25538\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2249-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2249-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2249-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2249.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I\u2019m inventing, mostly.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the many wonderful things about Wallace and Gromit, from inception right up to <em>Curse of The Were Rabbit<\/em>, is its quaint and, very importantly, <em>imperfect<\/em> Englishness. These are things the <em>Chicken Run<\/em> movies lost almost entirely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2253-1-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25539\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2253-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2253-1-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2253-1-768x432.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/12\/img_2253-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is by far the slickest production of all the W&amp;G productions. But it\u2019s certainly not the best. The spirit that informed all their adventures, up to this point, <em>just about<\/em> survives. But only just!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most W&amp;G stuff I can and do merrily watch and re-watch. This one? Hmmm\u2026 not so sure. We shall see, I guess. All their other adventures are, in my view, Great. Their supplier went bust. And it\u2019s not your ordinary high street plasticine.
