It\u2019s Santana and co at their peak &#8211; along with <em>Caravanserai<\/em>, <em>Lotus<\/em>, and <em>Borboletta<\/em> &#8211; with the perfect blending of latin, rock, blues, funk, soul, pop, and lashings of cosmic jazz.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I love that Santana collaborated with Alice Coltrane, both here and elsewhere (<em>Illuminations<\/em>). The version of Going Home on <em>Welcome<\/em> is credited to Alice. But surely it also owes something to Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s piece of the same name, from his <em>New World Symphony<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are two other readings of the Dvo\u0159\u00e1k piece:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"525\" height=\"296\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/N_HMTE_9psY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The above is by US Army musicians! And is a more conventional and minimal interpretation.
