This excellent series follows a similar line, albeit through the prism of &#8216;The Bard of Avon&#8217;, and objects that can, in some way, be related to aspects of his life, times and work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From a simple apprentice&#8217;s cloth cap to a coin\/medallion map celebrating Drake &#8216;s circumnavigation of the Globe, the range and scope is once again fantastic. MacGregor&#8217;s as charming as ever, with experts on hand to flesh out and illuminate, and once again both the individual objects and the larger themes are engaging and compelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At first I wondered if the Shakespeare focus could possibly sustain interest across the whole series, but by the end (and the last episode is excellent, taking a slightly different approach, which I won&#8217;t give away) I was not only convinced, but dead keen to see more Shakespeare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Excellent stuff, and highly recommended.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Originally reviewed for Amazon UK, in 2012.
