Large bills!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

First order of the day today, something I\u2019ve been avoiding like the plague. Sorting out my car insurance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Managed to do it. And it was a lot less grief than I\u2019d anticipated. And I\u2019ll probably save some money, as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I now have SD&P with Admiral, at just over 25% pa (c. \u00a3400) of what they wanted for H&R (c. \u00a31,600!). And I\u2019ve now got a PAYG deal with INSHUR, which is both cheaper, and payable as you go\u2026 phew!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More car bills loom, as Flo\u2019 is due her MOT. The first in my custody. Aargh! I\u2019m like that proverbial pelican; no matter which I turn there\u2019s always a large bill in front of me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve come to the cafe at Peckover House, to chill, read, and continue trying to book work\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I picked up War of Wars<\/em> in a church, for 50p! It\u2019s a massive book, at just under 1,000 pages. And very, very good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s sometimes remarked, in praise of good writing, that it\u2019s \u2018readable\u2019. That may sound rather pointless and silly. But actually it\u2019s the mark of the best writing. And this book is very<\/em> readable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019m about 85-90% of the way through the book now. And it\u2019ll be sad, in a way, when it ends. But I have plenty more books to move on to. Including volume three of N. A. M. Rodger\u2019s epic rendering of Britain\u2019s naval history.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
