I took out a free week long trial with Shudder, so as to watch more horror over Halloween this year. But this Tigon movie from 1968, despite horror \u2018heavyweights\u2019 Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee playing key roles, was pretty dire. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"608\" height=\"414\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2438.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4182\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2438.jpg 608w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2438-300x204.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 608px) 100vw, 608px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The titles are possibly more exciting than the movie.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It starts out with much mammary action, like a weird collision of Star Trek and Hammer (turns out the writers also write for Dr Who!), titillating, if you\u2019ll pardon the pun, as if it\u2019s going to be a kind of trashy sexploitation flick, with a bit of hippy era debauchery thrown in. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"626\" height=\"488\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2444.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4183\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2444.jpg 626w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2444-300x234.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 626px) 100vw, 626px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Bimbo and himbo, attractive but dull.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But then it goes all stodgy and lame &#8211; not warranting the effort a plot synopsis might entail &#8211; and wanders around aimlessly for ages, with sod all happening. Mark Eden as Robert Manning is a good looking but rather charisma-less lead, and his dolly bird love interest, Eve Morley (Virginia Wetherell), is sexy but soulless. Like the film. Actually, the film isn\u2019t even sexy. Tawdry, perhaps? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"940\" height=\"576\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2448.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4184\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2448.jpg 940w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2448-300x184.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2448-768x471.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Not as sexy as it thinks it is.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The done to death \u2018witches coven in the modern world\u2019 trope is flogged like a long dead carcass, yielding nothing more than the stale odour of decay. Sad, as this was one of Karloff\u2019s last roles. Mind, I\u2019ve never seen him in anything good. But to go out with a whimper on a damp squib like this? A shame. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"650\" height=\"361\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2447.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4181\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2447.jpg 650w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/img_2447-300x167.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 650px) 100vw, 650px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">As crap as it looks \u2026<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Can\u2019t say I\u2019d recommend this.
