Left is pine. Right? No idea. Some kind of fir tree!? But much harder\/denser than the soft pine. In the background, the two broken DIY handles. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These planes have been my go to pair for quite a while. One is set up as a scrub plane. The other a finishing plane. But I\u2019ve never really set them up that well. I <em>have<\/em> sharpened them once or twice, and one of them is good to go. But again, they needed both cleaning and sharpening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I cleaned and sharpened one of them this evening. Can you guess which? I\u2019ve only sharpened the primary bevel.
