We\u2019ve been looking out for free pallets. But failing to find any. And the sides are made from cladding from one of our pal Ken\u2019s outbuildings. I didn\u2019t really want to use the latter wood. But needs must!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cross-members over the top of the front planter, in the photo above, help keep things square whilst I add side panelling to the corner braces. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6244-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6244-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6244-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6244-1152x1536.jpg 1152w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6244-1536x2048.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6244-scaled.jpg 1920w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Painting the planters.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019ve been given a double coat of outdoor paint, had drainage holes drilled (and painted, to hopefully stop or slow ingress of water!), and are lined with weed suppressing fabric, with a bit of gravel for drainage\/ballast at the bottom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re hoping the fabric will extend the life of the planters whilst allowing water to flow fairly freely. We\u2019re also hoping that moving the wisteria from their pots into these planters won\u2019t traumatise them.
