I really want to go see it on the big screen. I\u2019ve only ever seen it at home, on TV or DVD, so on a relatively tiny screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"350\" height=\"525\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6415.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5316\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6415.jpg 350w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6415-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Truth be told, it\u2019s Woody Allen\u2019s wonderful 1972 <em>Play It Again, Sam<\/em>, that is, I believe, the chief reason I love Bogey and <em>Casablanca<\/em>. And, exactly like me, Allen\u2019s movie is 50 this year! So <em>Casablanca <\/em>and<em> Play It Again, Sam <\/em>both celebrate significant anniversaries this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"448\" height=\"269\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6412.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5318\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6412.jpg 448w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6412-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Allen\u2019s Walter Mitty like Bogey daydream visitations are priceless.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Pity the local cinema isn\u2019t doing the two as a double-bill. They\u2019re missing a trick there. How I\u2019d love to see that! I wonder if anyone anywhere is putting on such a bill? I\u2019d be there, like a shot! (Adopts a faux-Bogey accent) So\u2026 would that be a two fingers of bourbon type shot, or a slug from a 45!?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Indeed, such is my yearning to see <em>Casablanca<\/em> on the big screen, I\u2019m going to try and shift my Monday drum lessons around a bit and make it happen. That said, a few notes or observations seem fair game. For one thing, it\u2019s fascinating how this, one of the best and most quintessentially Woody Allen-esque of all Allen\u2019s movies wasn\u2019t directed by Allen himself. Strange but true!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, it may very well be that it was Allen\u2019s original stage play, from whence this movie derives,  and of course the film itself, that have helped propagate the \u2018false memory\u2019 that the title of Woody\u2019s works is actually a direct quote from <em>Casablanca <\/em>itself. It isn\u2019t. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"570\" height=\"442\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6399.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5319\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6399.jpg 570w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/img_6399-300x233.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 570px) 100vw, 570px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Vintage Hollywood!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Both are terrific films. I do hope I do manage to see <em>Casablanca<\/em> later today.
