But it\u2019s different, and doesn\u2019t actually fit. It\u2019s a more \u2018pointy\u2019 shape. At least this clarifies for me the type of latch and nipples (oo-er!) I had installed before, i.e. the more rounded type.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These differences in shape mean that the screw hole in the nipple doesn\u2019t align with the threaded hole in the latch, necessitating either a different part, or making changes to one of the parts, so they <em>do<\/em> align.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/img_8132-576x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6122\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/img_8132-576x1024.png 576w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/img_8132-169x300.png 169w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/img_8132.png 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The holes don\u2019t align! <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>According to some sources it\u2019s only the pointy type that are easily and widely available now. I don\u2019t know if there\u2019s any truth in that or not, as I definitely can get the other sort elsewhere. Firstly, with parts breaking or not fitting. Then, when I\u2019d filed the latch to fit the nipple, I discovered that the entire soft-top frame seems somewhat out of alignment. I\u2019ve had all sorts, from fence-panels, timber, doors, to trees, chests of drawers, fridges, and lord knows what else, on the back of Maisie. Often sitting atop the folded away roof. Green algae points to next job.*<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>I can\u2019t find any before pics (although I\u2019m certain I took some!?), alas. But above and below are some after shots. Trust me, it looks waaay better! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m hoping it\u2019s improved the ride as well, as before the sound of wind coming through said gap was really, r<em>eally,<\/em> REALLY, <em>REALLY<\/em> annoying! And, my oh my, what a difference! No roaring airflow, nor can I even feel <em>any<\/em> draught. And &#8211; although we\u2019re currently in a heatwave &#8211; this\u2019ll mean no more ingress of rain. Wahoo!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>* Next? Either adding some of the silicone pipes I got from BOFIracing a whiles back , or using the Auto Glym products I have to clean and re-waterproof the soft-top.
