I just posted about cataloguing my CD collection on FB. I have a nice book, <em>Cat On A Hot Thin Groove<\/em>, about his illustrations for<em> Record Changer <\/em>magazine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"768\" height=\"585\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img_6113.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-7953\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img_6113.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/img_6113-300x229.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">I bought this book about him years ago.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>He also created characters like Nudnik, as well as animating such famous cartoons as Tom and Jerry and Popeye, and doing all sorts of other artistic\/illustrative work. His mainstream animation stuff I\u2019m much less familiar with or aware of. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But, rather madly, I\u2019ve discovered that Deitch was also involved with one of the earliest screen adaptations of Tolkien\u2019s writings. I love Tolkien, and I was really quite  surprised to find yet another point of connection here with Gene Deitch! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"525\" height=\"296\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/UBnVL1Y2src?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-GB&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>As with <em>Munro<\/em>, I\u2019ve yet to watch this Hobbit based animation. I glanced at a minute or so of it, whilst drafting this post. It seems quite a loose adaptation!
