I have to admit to being somewhat disappointed in this. It\u2019s actually pretty decent, for what it is. But it\u2019s far from what I really wanted. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8394-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9125\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8394-1024x768.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8394-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8394-768x576.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8394-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8394-2048x1536.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Looks handsome enough, doesn\u2019t it?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This latest addition to my portfolio of interests has been brewing up a while now. I\u2019ve had some great books from Pen &amp; Sword, via some of their maritime imprints, such as <em>Glasgow Museums, The Ship Models<\/em>, and <em>Warships of the Napoleonic Era<\/em>, by Robert Gardiner (my review of the latter can be read <a href=\"http:\/\/aquestionofscale.blogspot.com\/2016\/03\/book-review-warships-of-napoleonic-era.html?m=1\">here<\/a>). Plus I had already acquired <em>Naval Warfare in the Age of Sail<\/em>, by Bernard Ireland, and one or two other titles in this line. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"998\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8412-1024x998.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9131\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8412-1024x998.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8412-300x292.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8412-768x748.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8412-1536x1496.jpg 1536w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8412-2048x1995.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 767px) 89vw, (max-width: 1000px) 54vw, (max-width: 1071px) 543px, 580px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A beautiful book full of amazing models.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The issue, and it\u2019s actually a very common one, especially with slightly older art books, is that there are only a very few colour images (and these are neither big nor very high quality), the bulk of the images being black and white. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As is so often the case, in this deeply capitalist society of ours, what I really want proves to be unaffordably expensive! This looks much more like what I\u2019m after:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"738\" height=\"956\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8395.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9126\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8395.jpg 738w, http:\/\/www.sebpalmer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/img_8395-232x300.jpg 232w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 738px) 100vw, 738px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>That said, and given the money folk are asking (mostly around the \u00a3300+ mark!) I\u2019d want to be 100% sure these actually have lots of juicy high quality full-colour reproductions!
