Whilst making the wedding rings for Sally and Darren, I used up some left-over bits to make myself a wee ring. This two pics above show this.
The gallery below shows the making of numerous of the ‘concentric ring’ segments. And then work on pieces that would go on to form the extra/personal ring that came out of Sally’s wedding band commission.
This one uses just two types of wood/veneer, and a concentric ring design, with one added twist, almost literally.
As a result of having incomplete segments left over, there were gaps in parts of the design. I used the same layered wood to do transverse segments, to fill in the gaps.
Sadly my crappy wee iPhone camera doesn’t do the wood here any justice at all! in real life the colours and grain really ‘pop’, as they say.
I e tried by dialling up contrast, etc, to bring that out. But it’s still a long way from capturing what the eyes see. To the naked eye the lighter reddy/brown wood almost glows!
